Gasoline prices are creeping upward as summer nears, and experts says that trend will continue. The average price of gasoline in the United States rose more than a penny to 96.14 cents a gallon over the past two weeks, said Trilby Lundberg, an Los Angeles-based oil industry analyst. That is virtually the same price that Americans paid one year ago at this time, said Lundberg. She said that the increase of more than a penny in the retail average was accompanied by double that amount at wholesale. “Upward pressure in the wholesale markets mandated that retailers would have it push it through to the customer,” she said.
