Stun Gun Case in Huntington Beach

Share

In reference to the letter (Sunday, April 10) protesting the $300,000 settlement of the stun gun case: I think your readers have a right to know who Howard D. Subnick really is. Although he made no mention of the fact, Subnick is not only a jailer at the Huntington Beach City Jail but he was also one of the defendants named in the lawsuit (my case, to be specific).

While I agree that the case should have been tried, Subnick also misstated the facts when he wrote, “The plaintiffs had the check cashed before the ink dried.” Subnick should know that we, the plaintiffs, flatly refused their offer for weeks before being literally forced to settle by the federal judge on the eve of the trial. I think your readers can now accept Subnick’s “protest” in the proper context.
