L.A. County Library’s ‘Dial-a-Story’ Offers Young Callers 5-Minute Tapes

The Los Angeles County Public Library provides Dial-a-Story, five minutes of prerecorded stories, songs and poems designed to provide children with an opportunity to enjoy children’s literature and to increase their listening skills. Dial-a-Story is available by phone to children of all ages 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Tapes are changed weekly.
Dial-a-Story’s local phone numbers are : 588-0131 (English) and 588-3181 (Spanish) in Huntington Park; 721-2111 (English), 728-1448 (Spanish), 728-1441 (Chinese) and 725-6870 (Japanese) in Montebello, and 929-9924 (English), 929-9854 (Spanish) and 929-1474 (Chinese) in Norwalk.
The service is available free to many local callers; however, parents should check with the phone company as toll charges may accrue in certain prefix areas. Further information may be obtained by calling Penny Markey, children’s services coordinator, at 940-8522.
