Two former heads of France’s leading manufacturers of industrial equipment have been charged with breaking a Western ban on exporting sensitive technology to the Soviet Union, legal officials said. Jean-Paul Chamouton, the former chairman of Machine Francaise Lourde, and Louis Tardi, ex-chairman of subsidiary Forest-Line, were accused of “supplying the agents of a foreign power with information.” Two chief executives working for the two firms were arrested on the same charges. The four men were remanded into custody.
