Responsibility for Marine’s Death

Share

Have we reached such a point in our society where a “falling-down drunk” can be beaten to death, and our officials accept this as a “fair fight”? Does the fact that the people responsible for the Marine’s death are football players negate this act of violence? It would seem so.

The term “mutual combat” would indicate that both sides have equal capabilities for self-survival. With a blood-alcohol level of 0.26, the Marine couldn’t have had the ability or the judgment for a “fair fight.”

Being an athlete does not relieve one of responsibility of one’s actions in society. It is perhaps time for the public to reconsider its choices on the ballot come election time. We must have people in responsible positions who can uphold the law.
