TV evangelist Jerry Falwell, who is also chancellor of the 8,000-student Liberty University he founded in Lynchburg, Va., said the school will begin random drug testing of students this fall. The plan, calling for about 200 students to be tested each month, was greeted with applause from students and faculty at the Christian campus, which already bans smoking, drinking and some rock ‘n’ roll music. Falwell said “we’re hoping to start a trend,” and predicted the policy will “sweep the country.”
