The Ford Foundation is expected to announce today a large-scale, nationwide effort to help provide housing, day care, counseling and education for AIDS patients and their families, it was reported. Called the National-Community AIDS Partnership, the effort will pool the resources of the Ford Foundation, corporate donors and other philanthropies to help local organizations provide the assistance, the New York Times reported. The announcement will come at the annual conference of the Council on Foundations, which opens today in Los Angeles, the paper said. In addition to making an initial contribution of $2 million, the Ford Foundation hopes its status as the country’s wealthiest foundation will attract organizations and corporations that have been reluctant to become involved.
