Local News in Brief : Countywide : Businesses to Get Liquor Law Reminder
- Share via
Beginning Monday, the Los Alamitos, Cypress and Brea police departments will team up with agents from the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to visit every business that sells liquor to remind operators of the state liquor sales laws, authorities said.
An ABC spokesman said agents and police officers will discuss laws against selling liquor to minors and to “obviously intoxicated persons,” as well as the sale of drug paraphernalia.
A Los Alamitos police spokesman said ABC agents will ride along with officers in marked patrol cars until all businesses selling alcohol have been informed in that city.
Dale Rasmussen, district administrator for the ABC, said undercover investigation by his agents and local police will be conducted only after the notification effort and only based on information that specific businesses have been breaking the law.
“If this volunteer cooperation doesn’t work, we can switch to . . . whatever is needed to correct the situation,” Los Alamitos Police Chief Jim Guess said.
