Fair skies and warm weather will take turns with cloudy skies and a chance of showers this weekend in San Diego as an extremely wet April comes to a close, forecasters said.

A weak high-pressure system over Southern California will keep skies fair and temperatures warm today, National Weather Service forecaster Ray Robben said.

A weak Pacific storm similar to the one that brought small amounts of rain to some parts of the county early Thursday is expected to move into the area Saturday, he said.

“We’ll see increasing cloudiness by early Saturday, and there will be a slight chance of a few showers,” Robben said. “The winds will also pick up as a result of the storm.”

High pressure will rebuild on Sunday, with clear skies and warmer temperatures returning.

“The first day of May should be clear, though the winds will continue,” he said.

Thursday’s storm brought 0.02 of an inch of rain to Brown Field, 0.01 of an inch to Imperial Beach and trace amounts to Chula Vista. No rain was recorded at Lindbergh Field from the storm.

The total rainfall for April at the airport to date is 3.71 inches, almost five times the average 0.78 of an inch for the month. The rainfall total for the season stands at 13.10 inches, whereas normal for the date is 9 inches.

Thursday’s High 67

Thursday’s high at the airport was 67 degrees, 3 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Highs in the coastal areas are predicted to be in the 68- to 73-degree range today and Sunday, dipping to between 64 and 69 Saturday as the storm moves through. Overnight lows in the 50s are expected all three days.

The surf will be 2 to 4 feet, with water temperature near 62 degrees.

Inland valley highs will be from 73 to 80 today and Sunday, and from 65 to 72 Saturday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s and low 50s throughout the weekend.
