Local News in Brief : Interim Finance Chief OKd
The Palos Verdes Estates City Council has approved an agreement with Michael Shelton, who will serve as the city’s interim finance director until a permanent replacement can be found for Dean Beyer, who is leaving the city.
Shelton--who was Atascadero city manager for three years and assistant city manager and finance director in Belmont for four years--will be paid $30 an hour to manage the city’s finances. Shelton said he will not be a candidate for the new position. Beyer, who has been finance director for two years, leaves the $48,000-a-year position today for a family mining venture in Fallon, Nev.
