Warhol Auction

To borrow the comment of the late actress Ruth Gordon when she picked up her Oscar: “I can’t tell ya how encouragin’ a thing like this is!”

Detractors aside--junk, nostalgia or treasure--I am thrilled to see Andy Warhol’s beloved collections going to the creme de la creme of auction houses to be eagerly sought out by people who will not only enjoy them but who will also establish them as treasures in continuum (“Still Paying the Price for a ‘Piece of Andy,’ ” by Suzanne Muchnic, April 26).

How encouragin’ to see the least of them not trashed off in yard sales by unappreciative brats of heirs for whom sentiment has no value.
