W. German Train Sets Speed Record

An experimental West German passenger train set a world speed record Sunday, reaching 251.7 m.p.h. on a stretch of track built especially for high-speed trains near this Bavarian city.

The Intercity Experimental broke the previous record of 235.6 m.p.h. set in 1981 by the French TGV train.
