Former Diplomat Chosen for Defense Dept. Post

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan will nominate Charles S. Whitehouse, a former U.S. ambassador to Thailand and Laos, to be assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict, the White House has announced. Whitehouse, 66, would succeed Chapman Cox.
