Local News in Brief : Placentia : Fire Causes $33,000 in Damage at Company
A fire of suspicious origin caused $33,000 in damage to a steel and dye business early Thursday morning, fire officials said.
The blaze at U.S. Steel & Dye Co. in the 1000 block of Ortega Way was reported to the Orange County Fire Department at 1 a.m. and was put out within an hour, Fire Department spokeswoman Patti Range said.
Twenty firefighters fought the blaze, which enveloped one of four structures in a commercial complex, Range said. Firefighters opened skylights to ventilate the fire and keep the structure damage low, Range said, adding that most of the damage was to a dye press housed within the structure.
An investigation is continuing, Range said.
