A class-action suit was filed on behalf of Texaco shareholders who claim takeover strategist Carl C. Icahn manipulated the price of the oil giant’s shares so he could buy them cheaply. The suit is a companion to one filed by Texaco earlier this week alleging massive securities law violations by Icahn, who is Texaco’s largest shareholder and chairman of Trans World Airlines. The shareholder suit claims that Icahn, along with associates and companies he controls, deceived, manipulated and harmed other Texaco shareholders to advance his own interests since buying a big block of Texaco stock last fall.
