Mitterrand’s Election Is Explosive News

A 54-year-old woman suffered slight burns Sunday when her television exploded just as the news was announced that French President Francois Mitterrand had been reelected.
As Mitterrand’s face appeared on Irene Hanni’s television set in this eastern French city indicating his victory, the set blew up, setting fire to her first floor apartment and forcing her to jump out the window.
