Walters Plans Tour of Mideast Capitals

UNITED NATIONS —
Vernon A. Walters, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, will leave on Thursday for an extensive tour of Mideast capitals, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
They said the purpose is to confer with government officials in advance of next September’s General Assembly session.
Walters will visit Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and most of the Persian Gulf states.
