Potential for Stuck Throttle Prompts Repairs of BMWs

BMW of North America Inc. has recalled 1,256 four-wheel-drive 325iX cars to correct a possible defect that could lead to a stuck throttle, the German car importer announced.

Owners have been notified of the defect and most of the cars were repaired, including 400 that have yet to be sold, BMW spokesman Richard Brooks said Tuesday.

BMW said the cars’ dipstick tube could be bent so that the throttle can’t move as far as it should and eventually could stick either open or closed. On a car with the throttle stuck closed, the engine won’t run.
