Dutch veteran Gerard Veldscholten won the 560-mile Tour de Romandie road cycling race through western Switzerland, with American Davis Phinney taking the final stage at Geneva.
Phinney, coming off an accident last month that required more than 100 stitches to sew him up, finished 95th. Greg LeMond, making a comeback after an accidental gunshot wound, dropped out at the final checkpoint.
