Local News in Brief : Murder Trial Ordered
A second suspected heroin dealer has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he murdered two undercover federal drug agents, tried to kill a third agent and robbed all three.
William Wang, 19, of Hacienda Heights, was ordered to stand trial by Municipal Judge Victor Person at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing late Thursday.
Person also upheld special circumstance allegations--multiple murders and murder during a robbery--that qualify Wang for a possible death penalty if convicted of the Feb. 5 shootings during an undercover heroin deal that went awry in Pasadena.
Wang, believed to be a triggerman in the February slayings, was ordered to remain in custody without bail and to appear in Superior Court June 6 for arraignment.
An alleged accomplice, Michael Chia, 20, also a suspected heroin dealer from the San Gabriel Valley, was ordered last month to stand trial and faces a pretrial hearing June 10. He and Wang will be tried separately.
