Supervisor Harriett Wieder as a Candidate for Congress

Share

The recent articles about Orange County Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder are an alarming account of the deceit and selfish behavior of just one of our local officials. I wonder if Wieder realizes there are other ways to look credible without alleging she has a college degree. Maybe she is not familiar with all of the wonderful state schools which offer evening classes for those of us who work.

I wonder if she cares about the thousands of us who worked full time and earned a degree in the evening. Many had the same background she claimed to have, i.e. “my family could not afford to send me to college.” I am sure that if Orange County employees state they have a degree, they have to prove it, and if they are found to have falsified their employment application, at a later date they could be terminated.

Many of us stopped trusting Wieder a long time ago because of her loyalty to developers and refusal to listen to the wants and needs of county residents. She has set an unfortunate example for young people who are told an education is important, and encouraged to stay in school. It’s time for her to retire. I’m sure she’ll find something to occupy her time--maybe she could go back to school.
