Schwartz Wins in Speedway Race

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event Friday in front of 5,163 in the weekly speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Allen Christian of Huntington Beach was second, Sean McConnell of Brea was third and Steve Lucero of Riverside was fourth.

Billy Hamill of Monrovia won the eight-lap handicap main event. Brad Oxley of San Clemente was second, McConnell was third, Jay Gianetti of Fullerton was fourth and Tuff McBride of Grand Terrace was fifth.

McConnell also won the four-lap featured match race, defeating second-place finisher Dubb Ferrell of Whittier.

Johnny Walker of Chino won the five-lap second division. Mike Pinedo of Corona won the four-lap third division.
