Annexation and Country Life Style

Share

I was recently at a City Council meeting in Cypress on the city’s proposal to annex some county land. The problem is that many of the people who live on this county land on Gay and Denni streets have a country way of living and have horses and chickens on their property. I have to agree with the citizens who want to keep their way of life.

Many of these people were born on farms and when they came to California to live they wanted something the same. That’s why they picked the county land next door to Cypress. They are not against improvement, but they want their same life styles if they do become part of the city of Cypress.

I remember when I moved to California in 1965. There were many farms and orange groves.

Is metropolitan Southern California becoming another New York City, with only one green section like Central Park?

Development is great, but there has to be a stop to it sometime. So let’s hope that the Cypress City Council and the residents of Gay & Denni Streets work something out.
