Foreman Gets 9th Straight Win With KO
Former heavyweight champion George Foreman of Houston continued his comeback Saturday night by stopping journeyman Frank Williams at 2:07 of the third round of a scheduled 10-rounder.
Foreman, 39, of Houston, knocked down the 31-year-old Williams three times in the fight, once in the second round and twice in the third. With Williams sitting on the canvas, referee Pat Carothers stopped the fight.
It was Foreman’s ninth straight knockout victory since ending a 10-year retirement 14 months ago. He improved his record to 54-2.
Foreman weighed 243, nine pounds more than in his last fight, a March 29 knockout of Dwight Muhammad Qawi, while Williams (36-15-3) came in at 208 pounds.
