Share

Police on Friday were seeking information about a pipe bomb explosion that occurred outside a motel room window.

Police Detective Chuck Castanga said Friday that a pipe bomb exploded at 11:28 p.m. Wednesday on a windowsill of an inexpensive motel room rented by the week at Landing Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard. The explosion broke the window of the ground-floor bedroom.

Two people were in the room at the time of the blast, but no one was injured, Castanga said. Police did not release the names of the motel room occupants.

Police have no suspects and no motive. “The investigation is under way, and we still have a lot of forensic work and evidence to go through,” Castanga said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Castanga at (213) 431-2541.
