SUMMER TOUR: Amigos de Bolsa Chica has taken more than 1,000 people on its six public tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands this season. Because of demand, it is adding a trip June 11. As before, the 90-minute tours begin at 9 a.m. and leave at 20-minute intervals. The last tour will leave at 10:30 a.m. Tours leave at the parking lot on the east side of Pacific Coast Highway between Warner Avenue and Golden West Street, across from the entrance to Bolsa State Beach.

The normal winter tours are offered when the greatest number of migrating birds come to the wetlands. While the number of bird species is smaller during the summer months, some birds that reside only during this time will be present. There will also be the usual year-round residents, some of whom will be in breeding plumage or will be mothering chicks.

ANNUAL MEETING: The Natural History Foundation of Orange County will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Natural History and Science, 2627 Vista del Oro in Newport Beach. The public is invited to attend the dinner meeting, at a cost of $10 to foundation members and $18 to non-members.
