The Caribbean island of Aruba has extradited an alleged Colombian cocaine trafficker to the United States, the Dutch news agency ANP said. It said that Alvaro Triana, 38, was arrested earlier this month on a tip from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration after he arrived on a false passport in Aruba, a former Dutch dependency. Justice Department spokesman Patrick Korten said Triana was a “middle-echelon player” in Colombia’s Medellin cartel, which U.S. officials say supplies most of the cocaine smuggled into the United States.
