Foreign ministers and officials of more than 100 Third World and nonaligned nations adopted a resolution calling on the United States and the Soviet Union to adopt a “program by stages for the total elimination of nuclear arms,” the Cuban government news agency Prensa Latina reported. The resolution, introduced by Cuba and approved during the first day of a special meeting in Havana on disarmament, also praised the recent superpower treaty to abolish intermediate-range nuclear weapons.
