Like many other matrimonial couples, Jacques Kermit Alexander, 35, and his bride, Kelly Lynn Fisher, 20, held hands and smiled warmly at each other Thursday during their brief civil ceremony in San Fernando Superior Court.

But there was no wedding cake or reception. And there won’t be a honeymoon.

Just minutes before performing the nuptials, Judge Howard J. Schwab had sentenced the Mission Hills couple to prison for kidnaping and armed robbery.

Alexander received an eight-year sentence and Fisher six years for their roles in a scheme to lure, attack and rob three men in Van Nuys in December and January.

“I have no qualms about entering a sentence they deserve, but I also will not strip away a person’s dignity,” Schwab said.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Harold S. Lynn said Fisher acted as a prostitute and led the men to be beaten and robbed by Alexander and two co-defendants. Danny Levell was sentenced to four years in prison earlier Thursday, and Zachary Lewis Cook was sentenced to three years in prison earlier this week.

“We was on drugs and stuff, and I’d stand on the corner, catch guys and we’d rob them,” Fisher said in the probation report. Fisher, who is pregnant, said they robbed the men to get money for drugs, according to the report.

After the sentencing Thursday, the courtroom changed swiftly to a more celebratory atmosphere.

Just as in more traditional weddings, the judge allowed the couple to kiss at the conclusion of the service.

They were then separated by a bailiff, who said: “The honeymoon’s over.”
