A federal jury in Charlottesville, Va., convicted a British nobleman and two British gamekeepers of conspiring to kill protected hawks on a billionaire’s game preserve. Sir Richard Musgrave, 66, manager of the Albemarle County preserve of John Kluge, and his gamekeepers, Paul Shardlow, 25, and David Amos, 20, face prison sentences of up to 2 1/2 years and fines of up to $25,000. A witness for the prosecution testified that as many as 400 hawks were killed at the game preserve over two years to protect stocked pheasants. Defense attorneys said they planned to appeal.
