Was Pedro Trapped on a One-Way Street?
I’ll believe, along with Mike Downey, that retaliation by a batter shouldn’t be part of the game when I see a pitcher suspended for four starts and fined $1,000 for throwing consecutive “inadvertent beanballs.”
Until then, I submit that bat-throwing-for-accuracy at 60 feet 6 inches should be part of every spring training.
Only when the pitchers realize that it is a two-way street between the mound and the plate will the “inadvertent beanballs” cease.
