Pistons Face Site Conflict for Game 5

Share

Unless a last-minute compromise can be reached or legal action succeeds, the Detroit Pistons may have to play at least one of their National Basketball Assn. championship series games at Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit, rather than at the Silverdome here in the suburbs.

The legal counsel for the Pistons, Oscar Feldman, said Friday that the team may seek an injunction to enjoin the Pontiac Stadium Authority from “displacing us from our arena” because of a conflict with a previously scheduled two-day “Monsters of Rock” concert June 17-18.

The Pistons stand to be evicted for Game 5 of the NBA finals against the Lakers on Thursday, June 16. If Dallas is the opponent instead, a direct conflict could be avoided.
