Five Indian nationals, apparently caught in fighting between the Somali government and rebels, reportedly were killed as the United Nations completed the evacuation of foreigners from the northern town of Hargeisa. Diplomatic sources, contacted by telephone from Nairobi, said 20 to 30 Americans were among the 165 people flown out of the embattled town 700 miles north of the East African nation’s capital, Mogadishu. Somali National Movement insurgents said last week that they were in full control of Hargeisa, but diplomats discounted the claim.
