About 500 people marched on police headquarters in Perth Amboy, N.J., throwing rocks and setting off firecrackers in a candlelight protest after a Mass for a Latino man killed by a police narcotics officer. About 25 officers in riot gear held a line against the demonstrators, and about 40 police officers were called in from neighboring communities to assist. Mayor George J. Otlowski said that some cars had been overturned and some windows broken in the downtown section, but there were no reports of injuries. There were no arrests.
