Dancer Elizabeth Duggan, 56; Husband Died Only Month Ago

Broadway dancer Elizabeth Duggan has died of cancer, less than a month after the death of her husband, actor Andrew Duggan, relatives said. She was 56.

Mrs. Duggan, who quit dancing professionally to raise a family, died Tuesday at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, her son, Richard, said.

Mrs. Duggan’s Broadway credits included “Brigadoon,” “Flahooley,” “Month of Sundays” and “New Faces of ’52.”

She began her career at age 17 after studying at the Professional Children’s School in New York City, her son said. She met Duggan while working with a touring company of “Paint Your Wagon,” and the couple married in 1953. Duggan went on to become a successful character actor in films and television. He died of cancer May 15.

In addition to her son, Mrs. Duggan is survived by two daughters, her parents and a sister.
