Bank of America has begun distribution of $25 coupons for former checking-account customers in connection with the settlement of a case in which it was alleged that the bank imposed excessive fees for bounced checks. The San Francisco-based bank ran ads Monday in 48 newspapers throughout California in which it told former clients to request a coupon that may be applied to banking services. Customers are eligible if they had a checking account between March 17, 1973, and July 1, 1988. The forms must be submitted to the bank no later than Dec. 31 and are valid until June 30, 1989.
