The Mission Viejo Swim Meet of Champions, which will be held today through Sunday, is the second of three meets in what is being billed as the “Swim to Seoul Series” as 800 of the best U.S. swimmers and several foreign competitors who met meet standards prepare for the 1988 Olympics.

Competition will begin at 2 p.m. today with the 800-meter freestyle for both men and women. Janet Evans of the Fullerton Aquatics Sports Team, the world record-holder in the event, will not compete because of final exams at Placentia’s El Dorado High School. But she will swim during the weekend in her two other world-record events, the 400-meter freestyle and the 1,500-meter freestyle.

Among the leading foreign swimmers will be Arthur Wojdat of Poland, who trains with the Mission Viejo Nadadores with Coach Terry Stoddard. Wojdat set the world record in the 400-meter freestyle in March.
