Favored Fiara Scores Victory in U.S. Debut
Fiara, with Chris McCarron aboard, took the lead early and went on to win the $55,000 feature race on turf at Hollywood Park by two lengths Wednesday.
It was the Argentine-bred filly’s first U.S. start and third straight win.
Holly Donna, under Russell Baze, finished second a nose in front of Any Song, ridden by Gary Stevens, in the field of seven.
Fiara, the favorite, covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:42 and paid $6.80, $4.20 and $3.20.
Holly Donna returned $9.20 and $4.80, while Any Song paid $3.20.
