Glasnost continues to bust out all over. A tentative agreement Wednesday between Goskino, the Soviet state film monopoly, and the Directors Guild of America will result in the touring exhibition of 10 American films in the Soviet Union annually (and vice versa). As part of the agreement, movie directors and other prominent film officials will accompany the movies on the exchange tours, set for the spring of 1989, according to Directors Guild of America president Franklin Schaffner. “This agreement will give Americans their first thorough look at new films produced in the era of glasnost,” said Schaffner in a prepared statement. The movies for the exchange have not yet been selected, he said.
