The federal judge overseeing Polaroid Corp.’s patent infringement case against Eastman Kodak Co. agreed to remove herself from the case because she recently inherited Kodak shares. U.S. District Judge Rya Zobel granted Kodak’s motion that she step aside from the case, which is now pending in federal court. It stems from a ruling that Kodak had violated patent rights for instant cameras held by Polaroid. Damages against Kodak must now be determined. The ruling, which was upheld by a federal appeals court in April, 1986, found that Kodak had violated seven Polaroid patent rights for instant cameras.
