The Union Carbide plant at Bhopal, India, has leaked more than a ton of chlorosulphonic acid, a potentially hazardous chemical, in the last two days, managers said. A spokesman for the Indian subsidiary of the Danbury, Conn.-based company, said the leak was under control and there was no danger to people living nearby. More than 2,500 people were killed in 1984 in a gas leak from the plant. Compensation claims are still the subject of legal proceedings. The plant has been closed since the 1984 disaster.
