Ford said it would make air bags standard equipment for the driver and front-seat passenger in next year’s Lincoln Continental, thus becoming the second auto maker to include air bags as standard equipment on both sides. West German auto maker Porsche includes dual air bags on three of its 944 series cars. Ford’s announcement follows one made in May by Chrysler Corp. saying that, by 1990, nearly all of its cars would have a driver’s side air bag as standard equipment.
