Lawyers for Rep. Mario Biaggi (D-N.Y.) began their case, trying to show that the Bronx congressman did nothing illegal in boosting the Wedtech company from a small machine shop to a multimillion-dollar military contractor. The prosecution case began March 11 and ended Tuesday, filling nearly 14,000 transcript pages. The government presented about 60 witnesses and introduced hundreds of exhibits designed to prove Biaggi guilty of bribery, racketeering and conspiracy.
