The Senate has asked the General Accounting Office to investigate terms of a deal for a $500,000 study of the U.S. Postal service by a company owned by H. Ross Perot, and directed the Postal Service to delay implementing the contract. Postal officials defended the deal and said they welcomed the investigation. A Senate resolution called on the GAO to look into the contract and report back within 45 days.
