NOW Head Demands ERA Action

BUFFALO, N.Y. — National Organization for Women President Molly Yard today said it is time for direct action in getting the equal rights amendment passed.
At a news conference opening NOW’s national conference in Buffalo, Yard said the emphasis of the three-day meeting will be on the ERA. “We aren’t going to beg any more from the white men of the legislature” in the drive for constitutionally protected rights for women, Yard said of the re-submission of the ERA to Congress next year. Yard said the NOW Women’s Caucus will be at the Democratic National Convention trying to put more women’s issues into the party platform.
