Two-time Olympic gold medalist Edwin Moses won a 400-meter hurdle race in 48.27 seconds in the Southern California TAC Championships at UC Irvine, .11 of a second faster than his previous best time this year. Moses is the world record-holder in the event at 47.02.
Only UCLA’s Kevin Young has a faster time in the world this year, a 47.85 in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. meet at Eugene, Ore., June 5.
In the women’s 100 meters, Gail Devers and Alice Brown were both timed in 11.21, but Devers was declared the winner, with Valerie Brisco third in 11:30.
