South Africa’s Eastern Province rugby squad came from behind to score a 36-18 victory over a team from California in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The U.S. squad is one of the few foreign rugby teams to play in South Africa in recent years because of the international sports boycott imposed to protest the country’s racial policies. The American visit was not sanctioned by U.S. rugby officials. However, 17 of the Americans are members of the U.S. national squad, according to team manager Bob Woodberry.
