The longtime chief spokeswoman at the Miami office of the Nicaraguan Contras said she has been fired for helping a group of dissident field commanders. “I don’t think there’s an economic reason for my dismissal. It’s purely political,” said Marta Sacasa, who has worked since 1980 with the rebels. However, other rebel officials denied the allegation, saying the action was part of a cost-cutting plan. Sacasa said her troubles began June 22 when she organized a news conference at which six dissident military officers renewed their demand for the removal of rebel commander Enrique Bermudez. She said she will be replaced by Bosco Matamoros, the rebels’ spokesman in Washington.
