. . . Fruity Frosting That Adds Color and Flavor

Share

“This recipe was created one day when, as an 11-year old, I was doing some experimenting in the kitchen,” writes Babette J. Levy. “I made a simple butter cream frosting and dumped in a package of unsweetened grape Kool-Aid. The result was a delightfully sweet tart-purple frosting. Kids of all ages love this and it can be varied with other flavors and colors of Kool-Aid. I’ve had many requests for this recipe so I thought you might enjoy it.”

FRUITY FROSTING

1/2 cup butter or margarine

4 cup to 5 cups powdered sugar

Milk

1 (0.15-ounce) package unsweetened Kool-Aid (preferably grape, cherry and black cherry flavors)

In small bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. Slowly beat in powdered sugar and enough milk to provide smooth spreading consistency. Add Kool-Aid and beat until smooth. Makes enough frosting for 1 cake or about a dozen cupcakes.
