The Writers’ Strike

Share

If I were a writer/producer such as Steve Bochco or Stephen Cannell, earning 99% of my income as a producer, I might have sided with the 24.9% of the Writers Guild of America who voted to accept the latest offer of the Producers Alliance.

I would, however, have refrained from throwing in with the Writers Coalition (formerly the Union Blues) who feel that only the high-priced “working writers” are entitled to have a say in such matters.

When gentlemen such as Edward Anhalt and Lionel Chetwynd dismiss the majority of the guild, referring to them as taxi drivers, waiters and Radio Shack writers, it can’t help but give reasonable people pause.

It makes you wonder if, come this November, they would limit voting in that election to those Americans who own property and slaves.
